Netball Namibia is thrilled to announce that after a rigorous training camp, the national team has been selected to participate in the upcoming Africa Netball Championships, hosted by Botswana at the end of November 2023.
The tournament is of immense importance to Namibia, as it presents a valuable opportunity to elevate our rankings and showcase our talent on the continental stage.
During the week-long training camp, players from various teams demonstrated their skills and dedication, vying for a coveted spot on the national team, the Debmarine Desert Jewels. At the conclusion of the camp, the coaching staff carefully selected the final squad that will represent Namibia in the Africa Netball Championships.
Rebekka Goagoses, president of Netball Namibia, expressed her satisfaction with the training camp’s outcome and the team’s readiness to compete in Botswana. She emphasised the
significance of this tournament, noting that it would provide the players with the exposure and international game time they need to sharpen their skills. This competition holds particular importance as it will mark the Debmarine Desert Jewels’ first international appearance since January this year.
“We are out as a united Namibian national team to go and compete against the best in Africa,” Goagoses affirmed.
She further extended her gratitude to Africa Netball for affording Namibia this valuable opportunity to contend for the continental crown.
Namibia is eager to participate in the Africa Netball Championships, aiming to make a strong impact and demonstrate our nation’s dedication to the sport, she said.
“As we prepare for this exciting event, we also hope to secure test series against other nations to further enhance our competitiveness and rankings,” Goagoses said.
