The organisers of the upcoming boxing bonanza scheduled for Wanderers Sports Club on 13 October 2023, say all the boxers are in good shape physically and
mentally.
Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo, the top prospect and African Boxing Union (ABU) African super featherweight champion, will square off against Jona Shikukutu in the main event, according to Imms Moses, the promoter and trainer at AC Boxing stable.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, Moses said preparations are at an advanced stage, with boxers thoroughly training in the gym. He mentioned that they train at least twice a day, both in the morning and afternoon.
“It’s almost time; we are thoroughly preparing for the upcoming fights. I can confidently say that our boxers are in excellent shape, both mentally and physically. I can’t wait for the day to come so that the nation can witness what we’ve been meticulously working on in the gym,” he expressed.
Moses also emphasised the importance of this bout for Flame, as it will be crucial for his rating. “This is a pivotal fight for Flame; he needs to win convincingly. His opponent is formidable, and a victory in this bout will greatly enhance his record. Our focus is also on securing him better opponents for his future fights,” he added.
In the main supporting bout of the night, Hafeni Ngesheya will face off against David Shinuna in a national super featherweight contest. In the junior welterweight title bout, Robert Ndalelwa will square off against Ndamanguluka Nghifikwa. Ryan Rispel will go toe-to-toe with Sakaria Kandjambanga in the lightweight category, while in the junior welterweight category, Usko Rehabeam will trade blows with Jony Luis.
Regarding logistics for the event, Moses assured boxing fans that everything was in order.
“We have inspected the venue multiple times and can assure fans that it is ready and secure. The NTV crew has also visited the venue and conducted a test, so I can confidently say we are good to go. We invite boxing fans to come in large numbers and witness top-class boxing,” he concluded.
Ticket prices are set at N$200 for general admission and N$10 000 for a table of 10 people.
