ONGWEDIVA – Hairstylists at the Ongwediva Open Market have expressed excitement at the start of the annual trade fair in their town.
Kakwali Hair Salon owner Selma Nakupanga told New Era that during the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair, she gets to style a number of customers from different areas within the country.
“We are usually thrilled about the number of customers we get. If you work fast, you can style four to five customers in a day. Our customers travel from as far as Opuwo and Onayena just for our services,” she said.
Nakupanga highlighted that during last year’s trade fair, her salon was really busy and business was booming.
“We get a lot of customers during trade fair and we are looking forward to this year’s event,” said added.
However, barber Salom Johannes had other views towards the annual event, saying it will not make any difference on how slowly business is running right now and how it went last year.
“Last year, trade fair was not just a good time for me. I worked the whole seven days but I did not even make N$1 000. We really cannot rely on trade fair to boost our businesses but we will see how things go in the upcoming few days,” he said.
Johannes suggested that the Ongwediva Town Council must promote their businesses the same way they promote the annual event that brings various customers to the town.
