ONGWEDIVA – Several accommodation facilities within the vicinity of Ongwediva are fully booked for the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair.
Destiny Hotel chief financial officer Dingizulu Hellane highlighted that during August, every business fraternity in the area successfully benefits from the annual event.
“August is our peak season; we are fully booked. We are grateful for the trade fair because after August, business kind of slumps,” he said.
“The hospitality sector benefits a lot, but the fair has a lot of effects on everybody; everybody benefits. The trade fair is like December at the coast.”
Hellane said they have not increased their accommodation prices due to the high demand, and are operating at the normal rates.
“There is this misconception that when it
comes to trade fair time, many facilities increase their tariffs. But we do not do that. During the holiday season, we operate on discounted rates to try to lure customers to us. We still offer discounts to a selected group of friends,” he stated.
Hellane boasted that Destiny Hotel has the
best hospitality services with the best rooms in the north without a doubt.
Hotel Galaxy operations manager Emilia Namhindo said their hotel still gets calls and emails from people looking for accommodation. But unfortunately, they are fully booked.
“We have a few rooms which are booked by individuals who came for the trade fair, but the rest of the rooms are booked by those who came for workshops,” she noted.
Namhindo added that usually during the annual trade fair event, the hotel is always fully booked by trade fair patrons. But for now, those who came for workshops have booked first.
“During the trade fair, we do increase our prices, but only by a small percentage,” she noted.
