PM lauds Geingob’s systems, processes, institutions

PRIME Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says the late President Hage Geingob leaves Namibians a rich inheritance in the form of the independence he helped to bring about.

She added that Geingob’s role in laying solid governance architecture forms part of the inheritance Geingob bequeathed to Namibia.

“His position and role as the chairperson of the Constituent Assembly and as our first prime minister are part of the rich inheritance that he leaves for us which we will always cherish,” Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said.

She made these remarks during a memorial service in Geingob’s honour last Friday.

She said Geingob’s unifying character and enduring spirit will continue to inspire Namibians.

“We lost a man who touched many hearts, a caring leader who dedicated his life to serving and uplifting others, and an efficient administrator who prepared us to serve our nation diligently,” the PM asserted.

She further said the late Geingob was a mentor who championed the establishment of public service on a solid foundation to support the country in development, good governance, and social justice for all.

To honour the late President, she said Namibians should strive to continue with unity and uphold the spirit of ubuntu, aim for excellence and remain firm in national endeavours.

“He inspired us in the public service to embrace the principles and core values of the Namibian public service charter which he championed.

“Let’s commit ourselves as public servants to continue serving based on the principles and values of taking responsibility for our actions, being honest, and ensuring that systems and procedures are rules-compliant,” the seasoned politician said.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said the late President’s mantra of pulling in the same direction and leaving no one behind should be everyone’s goal moving forward.

“These are ideas that he cherished and upheld throughout his life. He was the essence of bravery and resilience, demonstrating those characters to the end,” she reminisced.
