The police in the Kavango East region were on Friday called to the scene where a 72-year-old pensioner committed suicide.
The suicide was reported to have happened at about 07h00 at Kaguni village in Kavango West region.
“It is alleged that the deceased, Tjifaku Liu 72 a Namibian male pensioner, committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in his sleeping room. The motive is not known and there was no suicide note left behind,” said the police in the weekend crime report.
“At Eenhana in the Ohangwena region, an 80-year-old Jeutkus Mwandingi, a Namibian male, hanged himself with a rope on a tree in his communal land on Saturday. He was residing with his wife and five children. No foul play is suspected,’’ police said.
Another suicide was reported at Iishanaputa village, Onesi, in the Omusati region. “On Friday at around 14h40, it is alleged that the deceased Erastus Shigwedha (45) hanged himself with a wire around in a hut in the house. It is further alleged that the deceased was alone at a time of the incident,’’ police said.
Meanwhile, at Oshakati, 34-year-old Amupolo David allegedly committed suicide by also hanging himself on Saturday at Omahenene, Uupindi location. A suicide note was left behind but police couldn’t reveal the content.
“It is alleged that the deceased, Amupolo David (34), hanged himself with a rope up a tree,’’ said the police.
“On Saturday, 3 June 2023 at around 13h00 at Ouma village, it is alleged that the deceased, Marcellina Ndeiwanena Aluvilu (40) hanged herself with palm leaves from a branch of a mopane tree,” police noted.
The next of kin for all the deceased persons were informed and police investigations continue.
