Local football analysts have lauded Shalulile for reaching his 100-goal mark.
Shalulile, who is gunning to win the Lesley Manyathela golden boot for the third time, added yet another milestone when he scored a brace on Saturday to reach 100 club goals in his career.
Playing for Mamelodi Sundowns, the Namibian scored twice in their 4-1 win over CR Belouizdad in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Saturday in Algeria.
Shalulile is the first Namibian to reach this milestone at club level.
Reacting to the news, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Brave Warriors’ shot-stopper Ronnie Kanalelo yesterday said it is a huge achievement that only the elite gets to achieve.
“It’s a huge one for him and that’s numbers right there. We can’t argue with stats but all I can say is that is a very big achievement and I hope to keep the same momentum so that he can take that tally to the next level,” he said.
Football analyst Carlos ‘CK’ Kambaekwa said Shalulile deserves it due to his form, adding that he believes he can do more but his age could play against him.
“The guy has been on fire and we can’t argue with that. He surely deserves it, looking at how consistent he has now been in that league for seven years, playing at the highest level and he hasn’t stopped. That just shows how much of a hard-working player he is. I believe he can do better and move oversees but his age could really play against him,” said Kambaekwa.
