Last five matches in NPFL to thrill…Kanalelo aims not to drop points

THE final stretch of the DebMarine Premiership season has arrived, with African Stars head coach Ronnie Kanalelo saying no team can afford to drop points now.

Kanalelo added that the league has reached an interesting point this time around as teams are separated by a few points.

He explained that his side has gone through three coaches in one season but managed to keep afloat.

Kanalelo shared that they picked up points in the last six matches they played.

He added that the remaining matches will be tough. “We have five hurdles, and we need to jump them properly.”

The top three teams – defending champions Stars, Ongos FC and Khomas Nampol – are in contention to claim the crown. Stars lead with 53 points, while Ongos and Nampol both have 51 points each.

Khomas Nampol have a date at 17h00 with Unam FC at the latter’s home ground tonight.

Thereafter, Stars will cross swords with Okahandja United at Independence Stadium at 19h00.

Matches will continue tomorrow with Young Brazilians ready to dance the Samba with Otiwarongo-based Life Fighters at Mokati Stadium. Fans should be seated by 16h00.

The Sea Robbers Orlando Pirates will face coastal side Blue Waters. However, they will meet on neutral grounds in Okahandja at the Nau-Aib Stadium at 16h00.

On Sunday, fans should once again drop household chores and get their cooler boxes ready for a showdown between Unam and the Brazilians at 14h00. The match will take place at Unam Stadium.

Life Fighters will play Khomas Nampol at 15h00 at Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo.

The Sunday session will conclude with Pirates taking on Okahandja United at 15h00 at Nau-Aib Stadium and Stars will go up against visiting Blue Waters at the Independence Stadium at 15h00.
