Dolam-based outfit Orlando Pirates gaffer Woody Jacobs has said last weekend’s back-to-back defeats are now water under the bridge, as they are determined to redeem themselves with possible away victories against Julinho Sporting and Life Fighters this weekend.
In last weekend’s league action, Pirates lost 1-3-to Debmarine Namibia Premiership log leaders African Stars and then 3-4 against Young Brazilians.
Coach Jacobs is determined to resuscitate their campaign with charged-up performances against Sporting and Fighters.
Pirates take on Sporting tomorrow at the Rundu stadium and Fighters on Sunday at the Mokati stadium in Otjiwarongo.
“Saturday and Sunday’s matches won’t be a walk in the park for us, as both Julinho Sporting and Life Fighters have been quite top-performing teams this season – and that means we need to be strategic in our approach. It’s worth mentioning that both our opponents this weekend have the advantage of playing on their home turfs and that does not make it any easier for us.
“But we should be ready to fight for points. It all comes down to the game plan, and I believe we have a solid strategy in place. The team has had a successful week of preparation and the players are motivated and eager to do much better this weekend,” said an optimistic Jacobs.
In other fixtures this weekend, log leaders African Stars will look to gain a runaway lead atop the log table when they face struggling Civics tomorrow at the SKW stadium in the capital and bottom-placed Citizens on Sunday at the same venue.
Also tomorrow, Unam FC will host coastal outfit Eleven Arrows at the Unam stadium in the capital before facing Blue Waters on Sunday the same turf, while Young Brazilians will tomorrow take on Citizens at the Karasburg stadium and Civics on Sunday at the same venue.
Young African will tomorrow be at home against Mighty Gunners at the Legare stadium in Gobabis before welcoming Okahandja United at the same venue on Sunday.
Tura Magic will play Blue Waters tomorrow and Eleven Arrows on Sunday at the Unam stadium.
Julinho Sporting will be in action on home turf against Pirates tomorrow at the Rundu stadium, before turning their attention to Tigers on Sunday at the same grounds.
Black Africa take on Okahandja United tomorrow at the Khomasdal stadium and Mighty Gunners on Sunday also at the same venue.
