Head coach of Wanderers Netball Club Erica van Zyl has praised her team for their hard work ahead of the MTC NNPL playoffs over the past weekend, saying it has paid off.
Wanderers, along with Northern Fly Ballers, Fatou and Young Stars, were promoted to the premier league.
Van Zyl said the playoffs were tough, but she had no doubt her team would advance to the premier league.
“The team had trained hard for the playoffs and each player had played a significant role. The games were challenging but served as a good start for what to expect in the premier league,” she told New Era Sport.
“We had no doubt about making it to the top league, as the girls have proven themselves over and over – and that gave us motivation ahead of the playoffs. The games were a bit challenging, but that was, however, a taste for us of what we can expect in the premier league.”
NN president Rebecca Goagoses said the playoffs went according to plan, and the teams showed their strength.
“Overall, the MTC NNPL play-offs were a great success and provided a glimpse of what to expect in the premier league. The teams showed their strength and skill, and the fans were treated to an exciting competition. With the league set to resume in March, fans can expect a thrilling season ahead,” she said.
She expressed her gratitude to Wanderers for availing their facilities and to all the officials, teams and fans for their magnificent support. She expects the league to be tough this season, as the promoted teams have shown their strength.
