The sixth edition of the Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards (SYMLAFA) is slated for September 2024 at the Nampower Convention Centre, themed ‘Circa 2080, Futuristic’.

Founder of the awards and magazine Helena Ngaifiwa said the aim is to recognise, celebrate and honour the Namibian creative industry, highlighting the remarkable contributions by individuals and brands that are shaping the future of this industry.

“We are delighted to once again recognise and honour the trailblazers and innovators who are driving progress and pushing the boundaries of the endless possibilities the Namibian arts industry has to offer,” she stated.

The previous edition, hosted in 2022, was themed ‘Avant Garde’, and saw more than 50 personalities getting recognition for the contribution they make to the country’s entertainment space.

Ngaifiwa said for this year’s edition, 15 winners will be awarded in the different categories, namely Male Actor of the Year, Female Actor of the Year, Female Radio Presenter of the Year, Male Radio Presenter of the Year, TV Personality of the Year, Female Model of the Year, Male Model of the Year, Make-up Artist of the Year, Content-Creator of the Year, Influencer of the Year, Photographer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year, Stylist of the Year, Fashion Designer of the Year and the Diamond Award of the Year.

“The evening will feature performances by Namibian local artists, the best red carpet fashion, and, of course, the highly-anticipated celebration of our creatives,” she stated.

The media personality indicated that this year’s awards promise yet another night of glitz and glamour, honouring the talent and ingenuity of nominees representing the pinnacle of achievement in their respective arts.

The most sought-after category is the Diamond of the Year, which is awarded to Namibians who have tremendously impacted Namibians through their work.

Ophthalmologist Dr Helena Ndume, politician and health care specialist Dr Libertina Amathila, as well as musician/DJ Lize Ehlers, are some notable Namibians who have received the prestigious award.
