KEETMANSHOOP – Two more Keetmanshoop residents paid with their lives within four hours earlier this week in violent, stabbing incidents.
Nampol regional crime investigations coordinator Nicodemus Mbango said a murder incident happened during the late hours of Monday in the Donkerhoek area of Tseiblaagte.
“It is alleged the suspect, a 37-year-old Namibian man, who earlier travelled from Tses, was asleep when the victim, a 42-year-old man, woke him up in a rough and rude manner,” the officer informed New Era.
He continued that the suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and head area, causing his immediate death.
“The suspect has been arrested in the meantime, and the murder weapon was recovered. Furthermore, the suspect did not yet appear before the court, as police investigations continue,” said the deputy commissioner.
In another unrelated incident, during the early hours of Tuesday, a Namibian female suspect (19) stabbed to death a 31-year-old man, who is a member of the Namibian Defence Force, after an altercation broke out between the two.
The incident happened in the TransNamib location in Keetmanshoop.
It is furthermore alleged that the suspect bought a beer at the victim’s residence after which they started quarrelling and wrestling.
“While being assaulted by the man, the suspect grabbed an unknown sharp object and stabbed the victim in the chest area, causing his immediate death,” said Mbango.
The suspect was arrested, but the murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
The suspect was not yet brought before the court, as police investigations are ongoing.
The next of kin of both victims have been informed.
