Tourism and adventure businesses at Namibia’s two ports can look forward to a bumper festive season, with 22 passenger vessels to dock at Walvis Bay and Lüderitz from November to the end of December.

The Namibian Ports Authority (NamPort) announced that it is bound to welcome 15 cruise vessels at the Port of Walvis Bay and seven-passenger vessels to dock at the Port of Lüderitz during November and December 2022.

Namport further announced the first call will be the MS Aidaaura vessel at the Port of Walvis Bay on 10 November 2022.

The last call will be made by the MS Norwegian Jade on 31 December 2022.

“Passenger vessels bring holidaymakers to the harbour towns, who contribute significantly to the local tourism industry by spending money at local shops, making use of the public transport system, going on day excursions as well as purchasing souvenir items from vendors who specialise in local arts and crafts,” stated commercial executive Elias
Mwenyo.

He added: “Namport is committed to ensuring all visitors who disembark from passenger vessels do so in a safe and welcoming manner, as the Authority appreciates the value that these visitors add to the tourism industry and in turn inject income to the country’s economy at large”.
