GROOTFONTEIN – The Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa region are investigating a case of concealment of birth after an unknown suspect on Friday dumped a foetus in the bushes near the west entrance of the town close to the ‘Welcome to Grootfontein’ board.
The police suspect the foetus was aborted.
“It is alleged that an unknown suspect dumped a foetus in the bushes on Friday, 09 September 2022 at an unknown time. Four brown tablets were also found on the scene,’’ the police said in their weekend crime report.
The police are investigating the case to bring to account the suspect who is still not known, and have requested assistance from the public who might have information regarding the discovery, or any information that might help solve the case.
Meanwhile, in the Kavango West region, thieves stole a water pump from a government borehole belonging to the community.
Two Namibian male suspects, both aged 24, were arrested by the Namibian Police on Saturday after it was discovered that they stole and were transporting a water pump with accessories from a government borehole at Mile 30/Ncamagoro village.
The duo was arrested at a temporary roadblock between Mururani and Rundu, which was manned by the police.
“They were arrested after it is alleged that they stole a water pump (branded Grundfos), core cables and a base plate from a borehole on Saturday, 10 September 2022 at about 20h00 at Mile 30, Kavango West Region,’’ said the police.
“The water pump and its accessories were recovered, but its value is yet to be determined. Police investigations continue,’’ they added.
