The 2022 Express Credit Futsal Namibia Summer League is set to commence this weekend, with various matches lined up for Friday to Sunday at the Windhoek Showgrounds.
Speaking at the launch of the league yesterday, founder of Futsal Namibia Andrei Tirtirau said the league will be marked by an increase in the number of teams that will be participating.
“We have so many teams that have joined the league this new season. We are expecting a good season with tight competition amongst the teams. In the premier league, we have 15 teams which is the highest so far,” said Tirtirau.
“In the first division, we have 30 teams this season and two teams will be promoted to the premier league at the end of the league season.”
Reflecting on the previous season, Tirtirau said that they have made a huge impact as many ladies’ teams joined the league and they are now hoping to expand the league to all corners of the country.
“We are looking at having more coaching clinics to upskill our coaches and referees who are involved in the league. We are also in the process of trying to secure venues in the north and south so that we can have leagues all over,” he added.
