Swapo in Omaheke has endorsed Aminuis treasurer Obeth Kandjoze, who also serves as the director general of the National Planning Commission, as one of its delegates to the watershed ruling party congress slated for November.
Kandjoze, alongside Kalahari constituency councillor Ignatius Kariseb, Aminuis district Swapo information and mobilization officer Silla Issaks and Swapo think-tank chairperson Martina Mokgatle-Aukhumes were elected during the party conference held at Gobabis last week.
The conference also saw Omaheke Swapo regional coordinator Ruth Kaukuata- Mbura re-elected to the position unopposed. Swapo Gobabis district coordinator Liberius Kalili was elected as the party regional information mobilization officer, the position previously held by Ebben Handura who scored 29 votes against Kalili’s 36.
Former Okorukambe councillor Raphael Mokaleng was elected as the party regional treasurer after beating Gideon Kavari to the position. Mokaleng received 43 votes, while Kavari got 22.
The 2022 Swapo congress slated for November will elect a new party leadership, but most importantly, it will also confirm the ruling party’s candidate for the next general election.
