Two men aged 23 and 34 from Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa region are due to appear in court this week in connection with an armed robbery and theft of N$77 000, outside Poolman Motors at the Garden Town.
The robbery occurred on Monday morning along Martin Neib Street in Okahandja.
According to Otjozondjupa police spokesperson Maureen Mbeha, a 47-year-old was robbed by armed suspects while carrying cash in a brown leather bag.
“Three suspects approached him, one armed with a pistol and another one armed with a knife. They gun pointed the victim, grabbed the bag containing cash amounting to N$77 213.30, stabbed the rear tyre of the complainant’s bakkie with a knife and sped off in a Nissan March with registration N8119 OH,” she said.
Mbeha said the vehicle sped off in the direction of R5 Camp.
The police were informed and shortly the vehicle was found locked up in a yard at R5 Camp with two different registration number plates.
She added the brown bag and cash of N$4 152.80 was recovered together with a 9mm pistol that was found with the serial number tampered.
Police said the third suspect is still on the run.
