The concerning pattern of murders in Namibia continued over the weekend.
In total, six murders were reported by the Namibian Police Force between Friday and Sunday.
The first incident occurred in Ondangwa on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Elia Shitongeni Hamukwaya, a male aged 38, allegedly killed his girlfriend, Emilia Nangombe (34), before going on to commit suicide.
Another murder was reported at Ehafo village in the Okaku constituency.
On the same day, another incident occurred in Wanahenda, Windhoek, at around 10h00, when Bigshow Gawaseb was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle on his chest and neck.
The suspect is under surveillance at the hospital after being stabbed by the victim with a knife.
On Saturday, Grand Beukes (32) died at hospital after being stabbed with a kitchen knife on Friday in Katutura at around 06h00.
The suspect is still at large in this incident.
Meanwhile, at Khorixas in the Kunene region, on the same day, an 18-year-old Namibian suspect allegedly stabbed the victim, Robert Seum Bam, with a kitchen knife on the chest.
The victim was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital – and the suspect is in police custody.
The other two murders occurred on Sunday.
The first occurred in Groot-Aub around 1 a.m.
It is alleged the victim and suspect were quarrelling over money when the suspect, a 17-year-old Namibian male, stabbed Mcancy Shivute (21).
The suspect was arrested.
Furthermore, the other occurred in Mondesa in Swakopmund, where three male suspects are in custody after allegedly stabbing and killing 23-year-old Angolo John Matokolo with an unknown object.
Although murder occurrences dominated the report, reckless driving, followed by armed robbery and housebreaking with the intent, followed closely.
In a separate incident that occurred in Onkumbula village in Okankolo constituency, Oshikoto region, a 14-year-old male allegedly raped an 11-year-old victim.
It is alleged the suspect threatened the victim with a panga, and proceeded to rape her under coercive circumstances.
The suspect was expected to appear with his guardian before court on Monday.
