Roberto Scholtz dazzling the fashion industry

Born and raised in Namibia, Scholtz is making waves in the fashion industry with his unique designs and meticulous craftsmanship.
Since beginning his journey in 2015 while studying at the College of the Arts in Windhoek, he has gained recognition for his ability to blend classic and contemporary patterns into distinct fashion pieces.

His passion for fashion and innate desire to create beauty started at a young age.

Scholtz specialises in evening wear, although he has experimented in the casual and ready-to-wear markets. In recent years, he noticed the niche in the Namibian
market for wedding gowns, and expanded his brand by focusing on wedding dress design as well as producing unique wedding gowns for every
woman.

The budding designer said his goal in fashion is to use his creativity and God-given talent to cement a lasting legacy as one of the greatest designers on the African continent, and even the world.

For years, he has been dressing celebrities and personalities in the African
entertainment segments, and partnered
with them for special events.

“I don’t think I can place my finger on where it started. But ever since I had my first memory as a child, I always knew this was what I wanted to become. In everything I did, I always wanted to make things pretty,” he said.

The longest gown he has worked on was a first Herero gown. He said it took about 10 months. The frame of the dress was the first of its kind that he tried out, so there was a lot of trial and error, he said. Eventually, the detailing was the icing on the cake that took precious time.

Scholtz’s designs have caught the attention of celebrities such as Jessica Nkosi, a South African actress and TV presenter, best-known for her leading roles in M-Net- commissioned telenovelas such as Isibaya, Ayeye, The Queen  and Lavish, among others, cementing his reputation as a designer who understands how to dress and impress.

“Every piece I have made touches and aligns me with so many precious personalities and moments I’ll cherish forever. When it comes to the materials I use, I source all over when it speaks to me,” he said.

Scholtz has invested a lot of time and resources into brand development, promotion, and uses social media as his main vehicle to drive his brand to greater heights.

He recognises the impact social media has in today’s world, citing that the platforms surpass the print and television media as the main connector between brands and their audience or customers.

Moreover, he has engagements on all major platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.

He draws his audiences in by engaging them on a personal level and presenting them to Ruberto Scholtz, the brand.

“No brand can stand alone, and partnering with other strong brands can lead to growth on both sides. I have previously worked with brands such as Red Bull Namibia and Shell Namibia (Vivo Energy), and I’m keen to partner with more brands,” he said.
