A four-day extensive training workshop on election reporting for journalists in Namibia is underway at the Namibia Press Agency headquarters in Windhoek.
The deputy information minister, Modestus Amutse, officially opened the workshop on Tuesday.
He urged journalists to participate fully, take the training seriously and practice the skills and knowledge to impact and accurately inform voters so that they make the correct decisions.
“This is crucial training because once you, as journalists, are well trained, you will also prepare the voters to vote correctly, as they are reliably, ethically and truthfully informed,” he said.
About 50 journalists from different media houses, including Nampa, NBC, Caprivi Vision, The Namibian newspaper, Ohangwena Community Radio, University of Namibia Radio, //Kharas Radio, Shipi FM and Omaheke Community Radio are in attendance.
The training ends on Friday.
