Created by longtime friends Sally Jason and Leratho Kanime, ‘A’Felende’ is a gripping drama series that follows the lives of four Namibian women navigating personal and professional challenges in the city of Windhoek. 

The show stars a local cast, such as Fresh FM Radio presenter Charlene “Chazz” Mubita, TikTok sensation Mucky Haushona, breakout actress Otja Kooper, and content creator Chane Philander.

The series used the empowering sound of Sally Boss Madam’s hit song ‘Boss Madam’ as a soundtrack, further highlighting local talent.

“In just a short time since its release, the series has garnered over 5 700 views on YouTube, with plans for a second season already underway.”

Jason, the series producer, said the web series was shot in various locations around Windhoek. 

They wanted to capture the essence of the city, using local neighbourhoods, clothing boutique Sitwala, and the lounge bar Corazon to ground the story in a truly Namibian context.

“Currently, ‘A’ Felende’ is available on YouTube, where it premiered to a great reception. However, we are actively working on expanding its reach by pitching it to television networks. We also plan to premiere the series on TikTok to engage with a broader audience through a platform that encourages more interactive and viral content,” she said. ‘A’Felende’ is derived from English/Oshiwambo slang language which means friends. 

She revealed that the title was chosen because it reflects the friendship, ongoing struggles, triumphs, and ever-evolving journeys of the four main characters. 

The name speaks to the resilience and determination of the characters as they navigate through their personal and professional challenges as friends, she said.

“This series is more than just entertainment; it’s a celebration of Namibian culture, creativity, and talent… We have also planned a second season, which is in the early stages of development, with the hope of bringing even more engaging content to our audience,” she said.
