Cricket Namibia yesterday announced Rent-A-Drum as the newest sponsor of the First National Bank Namibia (FNB) Cricket Ground, under construction, as one of the venues for the 2027 International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Rent-A-Drum will serve as the official events and recycling service provider for the stadium, playing a crucial role in ensuring that events hosted at the facility are environmentally-sustainable.
As Namibia prepares to co-host the prestigious ICC World Cup in 2027, together with neighbouring South Africa and Zimbabwe, this partnership marks a significant step towards establishing the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground as a model of eco-friendly event management.
Johan Muller, CEO of Cricket Namibia, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome Rent-A-Drum to our Corporate Cricket Community of partners at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground. Rent-A-Drum’s expertise in events waste management and recycling services will be invaluable as we work to deliver an environmentally-responsible experience for all Namibians. Together, we are building a venue that future generations will be proud of,” he said.
Rent-A-Drum’s vision, “To lead an environmentally-friendly and sustainable future for all Namibians,” is at the heart of this partnership.
The company is committed to setting a new standard for sustainability in large-scale events.
This collaboration with Cricket Namibia underscores their dedication to these values.
Eduan Louw, development manager at Rent-A-Drum, echoed this sentiment.
“At Rent-A-Drum, we are committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility, the values that we believe align closely with the objectives of Cricket Namibia. Our decision to get involved in this partnership stems from our desire to contribute to the success of a globally-significant event, while ensuring it is managed in an environmentally-sustainable manner.
“Furthermore, this partnership allows us to contribute to the local community by supporting sports development and environmental consciousness. We believe that together, we can set a benchmark for future events in Namibia and beyond, highlighting the importance of sustainability in sports and large-scale events”.
“As Namibia prepares to host the ICC World Cup 2027, our collaboration with Cricket Namibia allows us to demonstrate the critical role Rent-A-Drum will play in ensuring the success and environmental integrity of large-scale events. By working together, we are helping to position Namibia as a leader in eco-friendly event management, setting an example for future international events,” he added.
