Namibia’s Premier League champions, African Stars, have secured the signing of Martin Tjotjo James as part of their efforts to bolster the squad to defend their title.
James (24) joins the team from Omaheke’s premiership giant Young African.
In an interview, African Stars head coach Ronnie Kanalelo said James will add value to the team’s attacking options.
“James has a very positive attitude as a forward, quite confident and a poacher. He can position himself well and that is why he is a poacher,” Kanalelo said.
The head coach further said James is not a target man, but a centre forward with different characteristics who can also bring other attackers into play.
Kanalelo further said African Stars will go after players who are slightly showing better than their current crop if they notice them.
With the new two-year deal at African Stars, James said he is excited to be noticed by the premier league champions, and that has instilled more confidence in his career.
“Although I wished to play for Stars, I didn’t expect that to be now, I have to perform and score more goals for them,” he said.
The Epukiro-based player shared that playing for African Stars will aid his dream of playing for the national team.
“I will grab every opportunity and win everything with my new team,” he noted.
Besides, Young African, the utility player played for Epukiro Secondary School, Top Score, Epukiro All Stars and Ouvanda.
