Woman mysteriously dies in mahangu field

Woman mysteriously dies in mahangu field

RUNDU – A 52-year-old woman was discovered dead by her children on Tuesday morning in bushes near her mahangu field at Mbambi village, in the Kavango West region.

She was identified as Regina Kaunda Musenya.

It is alleged that the deceased person went with her children to her mahangu field to weed. When they got there, she instructed her children to wait for her as she relieved herself.

She, however, never returned, prompting her children to go out to look for her. They found her lying on the ground and not breathing. Namibian Police spokesperson in the Kavango West, Deputy Commissioner Elsavador Ndeunyema confirmed the incident. Ndeunyema said the next of kin have been informed, and the cause of death will only be known once an autopsy is done. No foul play is suspected in the matter.

In a separate incident in the same region, at around 05h00 on Tuesday in the Mpungu village, another 52-year-old allegedly took his own life.

“The deceased person was identified as Mwahafa Gabriel, a Namibian male. His next of kin have also been informed, and no suicide note was left,’’ Ndeunyema noted.
