OMUTHIYA – A 29-year-old man allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman in Onyaanya area in the Oshikoto region on Friday.

A crime report issued by regional commander Theopoline Kalompho-Nashikaku stated that the incident occurred at 22h00.

 A case has been opened against the suspect, an Angolan national.

Kalompho-Nashikaku said the suspect allegedly escorted the victim from Oshigo cucashops to her house. 

However, on the way, the suspect started making advances toward the victim, which she allegedly turned down. 

The suspect then allegedly grabbed and raped her.

There is no known relationship between the victim and the suspect.

The suspect has been arrested.

In a separate matter, a 68-year-old man was allegedly robbed of his properties at the Onayena location in the Oshikoto region last week.

The incident occurred at around 20h00 near the Okalunga koMaleti location.

“It is alleged that the complainant got into a taxi from Onathinge to Onayena. Before they reached Onayena, the driver allegedly stopped. He claimed that one of the car’s tyres was flat and that he could not proceed,” Kalompho-Nashikaku reported.

The complainant decided to proceed with the journey on foot.

 While he was walking, four men attacked him.

“The suspects grabbed him, and robbed him of his properties,” Kalompho-Nashikaku said.

The suspects are unknown.

 However, the complainant believes that the taxi driver was part of the gang.

The stolen items included a cellphone, N$14 000, identity documents and room keys.

No arrests have yet been made.

 Police investigations continue.
