Unam Jaguars to hold trials

The Unam Jaguars’ netball team under the guidance of head coach Augusta Mbai, will be hosting open trials at the Unam main campus from today until tomorrow, running from 17h30 to 19h30 each day.

The Jaguars recently secured promotion to the MTC Netball Namibia Premier League (MTC NNPL) after an impressive performance in the playoffs.

Now, they are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season in Namibia’s top netball division, which is set to kick off in April.

Mbai, a former Unam Jaguars and national team player, emphasised that the trials are open to all aspiring netballers, regardless of whether they are university students.

“This is a great opportunity for talented netball players to showcase their skills and earn a place in a competitive team. We want to build a strong squad capable of competing at the highest level,” she stated.

Over the years, Unam Jaguars have established themselves as a breeding ground for elite netball players, with many going on to represent Namibia on the international stage. The upcoming trials could be the gateway for fresh talent to make their mark.

“With the MTC NNPL season fast approaching, the Jaguars are determined to assemble a squad that can hold its own against the country’s best teams. These trials present a golden opportunity for netballers to be part of a club with a strong legacy and an ambitious future,” said Mbai. -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
