Mangetti: New leadership to revive farmers’ association

OMUTHIYA – The newly-elected leadership of the Mangetti Farmers’ Association (MFA) in the Oshikoto region says it is committed to revitalising the organisation in order to enhance food production and promote self-reliance.

MFA chairperson Bro-Matthew Shinguadja told Nampa on Thursday that the association was inactive since 2008, but was revived in 2024.
He was elected in August 2024, and said the MFA was established to empower farmers to become active producers.
“We are urging local farmers to join or rejoin the association,” he added.

Shinguadja pledged that under his leadership, the MFA will educate farmers on the latest agricultural trends.
“We will also help farmers gain access to markets and the latest agricultural information,” he noted.

The non-profit association currently has over 230 registered members, both crop and livestock farmers.
The newly-elected leadership includes chairperson Shinguadja; vice chairperson Fillip Nakaambo; secretary Chris Katewa; vice secretary Fillemon Fire Vatilifa; treasurer Christian Iitope; and vice treasurer Jason Malima.

Linekela Shipindo has been appointed as the association’s spokesperson.
The MFA, headquartered in Ondangwa, was established in 1986 under the leadership of the late King Kauluma to foster agricultural productivity and self-reliance.
