President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Tuesday reaffirmed the strong relationship between Namibia and France during a courtesy visit by French ambassador to Namibia, Cecile Vigneau.
“You are welcome. I am really happy that you are here, and you are working in order to ensure that the relationship between the two countries will remain strong and for us, that is really what we are looking for in this area of our cooperation,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Shortly before the media was excused, Vigneau remarked that the relationship between the two countries is politically dynamic, economic and cultural, noting the need for further developments aligned with the government’s national development plans.
“We, of course, looked very carefully at what your orientations and policies are within your new mandate.
We are eager to see how France can fit in, accompany and support in bilateral and multilateral matters as Namibia and France both put in a lot of work in fundamental principles in multilateralism… the world today is not maybe the world we used to know, and countries like ours can really work together to make things better and develop our two nations and respond to the needs of our people,” she added.
Vigneau also conveyed a congratulatory message from French president Emmanuel Macron on Nandi-Ndaitwah’s presidential victory, along with an invitation to visit France in due course.
Nandi-Ndaitwah extended her regards and appreciation for the mutual cooperation to president Macron.
