A case of rape has been opened in Ovitoto settlement after a 25-year-old female was allegedly raped on Friday.
According to the crime report seen by New Era, the incident happened at around 02h00 on Saturday at Okandjira village.
The victim was on her way home from a bar. A 20-year-old male suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident and police investigations continue.
In the Okondjatu settlement, the police are investigating a case of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft after suspects broke into Nua Nokuritjevera Bar at Okondjatu in the Otjozondjupa region on Saturday.
The incident happened at about 04h00 when the suspects broke into a bar by cutting the window burglar bars and gained entry.
According to the police report, the suspects stole alcohol and N$742 600 cash from jackpot machines. No arrests have been made yet, but preliminary investigations led to the discovery of an abandoned Toyota Corolla on the B14 road about 52 kilometres from Okondjatu.
The report alleged that four shoe prints the same as the ones found at the scene fled the car into the bushes.
It is further reported that the vehicle was found idling next to the road with boxes of alcohol, including tinned beef and drawers of jackpots with coins on board.
In a separate incident, in Okahandja, the police are investigating a case of reckless and/or negligent driving when a driver of a Scania truck who was travelling towards Okahandja attempted to overtake a truck belonging to the Namibia Defence Force (NDF) and, in the process, bumped the NDF truck on the side, causing the load box to open and some contents to fall off.
The incident happened on Saturday at around 15h00, about 20 kilometres from Okahandja towards Windhoek.
There were no injuries to either driver.
