Asoli to engage youth through music

Namibian political association Asoli is collaborating with a group of established and rising local artists to create an official anthem and other party songs that promote political awareness among the youth. The project, currently in its initial phase, will feature a diverse line-up of talent and deliver Asoli’s message through the energetic sounds of Afro pop.

“We are still finalizing agreements, so I can’t reveal the names yet,” said Josef Kauandenge the leader of Asoli. “But we’re working with some of Namibia’s well-known artists as well as promising newcomers.”

According to the association, music is a key tool for youth engagement. Asoli believes that packaging their political message in vibrant, relatable music allows them to reach young audiences more effectively than traditional methods. The music will be shared across Asoli’s social media platforms and performed at rallies and public meetings as a central part of their outreach strategy. Though a musician himself, Kauandenge confirmed he will not be part of the recording, choosing instead to give full spotlight to the featured artists.

However, he will still perform his old songs at events, which remain crowd favorites, he said.
