The Outapi Town Council has launched a major electrification project in Extension 20, Phase 1, investing over N$2.9 million from its own funds.
The town’s spokesperson Joolokeni Haidula said the development marks a key milestone in the Council’s goal to enhance service delivery, sustainable urban development and the implementation of strategic planning initiatives.
“Construction commenced in June 2025 and is expected to be completed by September 2025,” she stated.
She emphasised that once completed, it will connect 55 erven with electricity, 20 of which have already been allocated for residential development, while 35 remain available for allocation.
Haidula said Extension 20 is already serviced with vital infrastructure, including water reticulation and sewerage services.
“The addition of electrification marks the final step in preparing the location’s immediate housing development,” she said.
She added that this initiative aligns with the objectives of Namibia’s Vision 2030 and reflects the priorities of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
“Namibians need access to improved services across social and economic sectors. Our duty is to serve the citizens. We made a promise to improve their lives, and we must deliver on that promise,” the President was recently quoted as saying.
The council encouraged residents to apply for the remaining available plots and begin construction.
The council also reminded residents to continue paying for municipal services, which is vital for maintaining infrastructure affordability and ensuring the sustainability of future delivery.
