OHANGWENA – A 52-year-old man was assaulted with a panga by another man after they discovered they were both dating the same woman. The altercation occurred when they met at the girlfriend’s house.

The incident took place on Monday night around 23h00 at the girlfriend’s residence in Ohaamala village in the Ohangwena region.

Sergeant Simeon Haufiku confirmed the incident, stating that both men were in love with the same woman.

Police reported that the victim was admitted to Eenhana District Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court today.

According to police, the woman was not harmed, but alerted her housemates when her two boyfriends began fighting.

It is alleged that the suspect found his girlfriend in the room with the other man, whom he then assaulted. The spokesperson for the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority, Senior Headman Andrew Naikaku, condemned the situation.
