ONGWEDIVA – A 29-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court today after she was arrested for allegedly driving her friend’s vehicle without consent and crashing into an electrical pole.
The incident happened on Tuesday around 21h00 in Ongwediva while the suspect and the vehicle owner were drinking together at Tafel Bar.
Oshana Nampol, Deputy Commissioner, Fredrick Ndjadila, confirmed the incident.
Police reported that the suspect was arrested yesterday after a search was conducted. She fled the scene immediately after the crash.
She faces charges of failing to render assistance to assess injuries/damages after an accident and driving a vehicle without a driver’s licence.
The car sustained damage to the front, but the suspect was not injured.
Police have urged the public to refrain from driving other people’s vehicles without their consent.
