Quality run riot over Demia

Quality FC on Saturday put on an outstanding display in the NDTC Futsal Premier League, thrashing Demia 8-0 to cement their second-place spot on the log standings.

Their weekend action began with a dominant 7-0 win over sixth-placed Boston Madrid, before running riot against Demia in the later fixture. The back-to-back victories saw Quality stay second with 68 points, seven behind log leaders Chile FC, who have collected 74 points so far this season.

Speaking to New Era Sport yesterday, Greyeno Rusberg, media manager at Futsal Namibia, said he was impressed with the weekend’s action, noting that the quality of futsal on display continues to rise as the season approaches conclusion.

“The weekend matches were very impressive, with top-quality futsal on display. As the league moves closer to its conclusion, we are seeing teams giving their all. Some are fighting to avoid relegation, while others are battling to stay at the top. The intensity is building every week, and we can expect even more thrilling and competitive matches as teams push for crucial points in these final stages of the season,” Rusberg said.

Meanwhile, Chile FC head coach Mefflint de Waal expressed satisfaction with his team’s current position but acknowledged the pressure from chasing sides. “We are happy with where we are on the log, but the pressure is always there because every team wants to close the gap. For us, the key is to stay focused and take each game as it comes,” De Waal said.
