KATIMA MULILO – The police have made no arrest in connection with the robbery that took place on Thursday at Kamunu village service station at around 04:00, where three unknown males armed with pistols entered the shop and discharged bullets on the floor striking a female security guard on duty on the leg.
The suspects went away with a cash tray containing cash of N$18 949.70. The metal cash till, where the money was stored, was later discovered abandoned near the Shack Dwellers’ location, with only N$55.20 recovered.
Law enforcement officers identified footprints at the scene and tracked them, leading them towards the Macaravani West location. Police investigations continue.
In another incident, a suspected burglar was shot in the arm and leg at Juda Haus Lodge on the outskirts of Katima Mulilo when he was allegedly trying to break in with the intention to steal.
He was spotted by the lodge owner who proceeded to shoot him. The police were called to the scene, and the suspect was arrested and taken to the Katima Mulilo state hospital. He is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo magistrate court today.
In another unrelated incident, the body of an 18-year-old woman who drowned while swimming near the Waterfront and NamWater pump on Friday around 17h00, was recovered on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Chikwata Lielezo and her next of kin have been informed. Police investigations in the matter continues.
