The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy, co-sponsored by PstBet in collaboration with the Khomas Boxing Federation, is scheduled to host an amateur boxing development event on Saturday at the After School Centre in Windhoek.
The event intends to develop young boxing talent, ensuring a brighter future for Namibian boxing.
It also demonstrates to the government and stakeholders that the sport continues to thrive and deserves increased support to produce future world champions.
In a statement, Nestor Tobias, owner of the academy, said that their mission remains focused on developing young fighters who can succeed current champions soon.
“This commitment is well-documented in our profile, as all our former world champions have come through this programme. This includes notable athletes such as Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda, Julius ‘The Blue Machine’ Indongo, Jeremia ‘Low-Key’ Nakathila, Paulinus Ndjolonimus, Mateus ‘Beast’ Heita, Fillipus ‘Energy’ Nghitumbwa, and many others,” Tobias said.
He added that Namibia’s abundance of talent continues to inspire the academy’s developmental work.
“Namibia is rich in talent, which is why we have teamed up with the Khomas Boxing Federation to help the youth realise their potential. The talent was clearly showcased during the Khomas Boxing Federation Championship, supported by the Namibia Boxing Federation,” he explained.
Tobias expressed gratitude to the Namibia Boxing Federation for its ongoing support of grassroots boxing. He commended the increasing participation of women in officiating roles within the sport.
“On 18 October, all officials will be ready, and the medical team will be present as well. Believe it or not, we now have more female officials in amateur boxing. We extend our gratitude to the executive of the Namibia Boxing Federation,” he said. The development event will officially kick off at 14h00 at the After School Centre.
