KEETMANSHOOP – //Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze said the 2025 Keetmanshoop Agriculture, Industrial and Trade Expo (Kaite) represents a major economic boost for the southern town. He said the expo will stimulate local trade, support small and medium-sized businesses, and foster community pride.
Gertze delivered the keynote address at the expo’s official opening yesterday.
According to him, the expo, now a cornerstone of the regional calendar, is a testament to its citizens’ collective spirit, resilience and unwavering commitment to progress.
“Under the inspiring theme, ‘Innovation, through Agriculture and Trade for a Sustainable Economic Development’, Kaite 2025 serves as a powerful beacon, illuminating the path towards a brighter, more prosperous future for all in //Kharas,” he stated.
He added that this year’s expo is more than just an exhibition.
It is a vibrant platform where ideas come together, partnerships form and opportunities are discovered.
Gertze described the agricultural sector as a platform that provides a crucial space for farmers to showcase their produce, adopt innovative farming techniques and connect with markets, ultimately enhancing food security and rural livelihoods in our region and beyond.
“The industrial sector benefits immensely from the exposure, allowing local businesses to display their products and services, attract investment and explore new avenues for growth and expansion,” he said.
“Furthermore, this expo plays a pivotal role in boosting our tourism sector, highlighting not only the unique natural beauty but also the rich cultural heritage and diverse attractions of the //Kharas region, as the expo draws visitors,” Gertze added.
He acknowledged the organisers for a job well done.
“Your tireless efforts, meticulous planning and unwavering commitment have brought this magnificent event to fruition,” he said.
He urged citizens to prepare for the upcoming regional and local elections, as their active participation in these democratic processes is essential for shaping the //Kharas region.
In the welcoming remarks read on her behalf, Keetmanshoop mayor Annelize Knaus said the initiative aims to showcase the diverse investment opportunities available in the town and to strengthen partnerships between local, national and international stakeholders.
