Former parliamentarian Patience Masua has been appointed as the interim executive chairperson of the National Youth Council (NYC), the council announced on Friday.
According to a statement on the NYS social media platforms on Friday, Masua, who has been serving as an interim board member, was appointed by education minister Sanet Steenkamp, following the resignation of Kennedy Kariseb in December last year.
“The appointment is aimed at ensuring continuity, stability and effective leadership at the National Youth Council during the interim period,” the statement read.
She was formally introduced to NYC staff members on Friday by the director of youth in the ministry, Nicolas Tembwe.
“The council is confident that Ms Masua’s experience in public service and youth development will add value to the organisation during this critical transition,” the statement reads. The NYC wished Masua a productive tenure as she assumed leadership of both the interim board and executive functions.
