Mentos Goagoseb, popularly known as DJ Dozza, has been cementing his place in the music scene as another figure carving out a path to become one of Namibia’s top producers.
Last year, his song, ‘Champion’, featured on Netflix’s Young Famous & Africa, as well as ‘Biekie Biekie’ remix on Tyla’s Showmax promotion.
“Siren, an anthem of relentless ambition is a blessing, but there’s been a lot of work behind the scenes to make it happen. These placements came through building a serious catalogue over time and staying consistent with quality. A big part of this success is my long-running collaboration with Leo Large from Germany,” he said.
Leo Large is a German-South African international DJ and producer, known for blending Hip Hop, Gqom, Amapiano and Afrobeats, with roots in Hamburg and Cape Town. He produces for African artists like Slikour, and has music synced in shows like Netflix’s Jiva!
“He is an international producer and sync strategist who’s been building music across different markets for years, connecting scenes and translating sound into real opportunities,” DJ Dozza said.
The recipe is always the same for both when creating the right records.
They start with a real conversation about the feeling and story they want to tell.
“Then we build the foundation. After that, we test different directions quickly, pick the one that hits, then tighten it up with arrangement, sound selection and the small details that make it feel premium. Then we record or finalise parts, mix until it translates everywhere, and master it so it’s ready for radio, clubs and sync. The biggest thing is consistency. We don’t rush. We do it properly,” he said.
Dozza has been working exclusively with a few selected artists, both local ly and internationally. He has some international features and has dropped a few music videos with songs that received attention in South Africa.
“Our latest single, Siren, which dropped on 17 August, featuring Leo Large, got featured on SA Hip Hop Magazine as well as Slikour Onlife. It’s been incredible to see our sound crossing borders and getting recognised in those spaces.
Locally, I produced Gazza’s new trending song, ‘Shikishiki’, which has been doing well. I also dropped two singles: ‘Corolla’, featuring J Black, and ‘The Juice’, featuring Hoan, DJ Jay and J Black,” he said.
The talented producer/artist is now working on his first extended play. For 2026, the plan is output and expansion.
“More releases, more visuals and more collaborations, both locally and internationally. We’re also focusing more on sync and publishing so the music can travel further and generate long-term value. Leo Large and I are still working on a lot of tracks, building them in a way that works on the dancefloor and in film and series,” added.
Dozza also welcomed the return of the Namibia Annual Music Awards slated for this year, which he thinks will be a major boost for the industry at large.
“I feel proud and excited. It’s important for the industry to have a stage that celebrates our work, motivates artists and producers, and brings the community together again. This return can be powerful if we use it to rebuild, improve standards and support the next generation,” said DJ Dozza.
