Castro the wind beneath Perez Filmz

In Ongwediva’s growing creative space, Castro Guilherme has become a name many people instantly recognise.

Behind the brand, Perez Filmz, is a 28-year-old photographer whose work ethic, professionalism, and humility have earned him a solid reputation.

Known simply as Guilherme, he is widely regarded as one of Ongwediva’s most consistent and dedicated photographers. Clients often describe his studio as a place one does not visit just once, many return and get recommendations from others.

“In 2021, I decided to relocate to Ongwediva in search of a more competitive environment that would push me to grow professionally. To my surprise, the move proved to be a turning point in my career,” he said.

Over the past five years, Guilherme has transformed Perez Filmz from a small hustle into a respected photography brand. He has progressed from photographing people on the streets to operating a home-based studio.

Guilherme’s journey into photography is defined by resilience and determination. He began photography in 2020 after financial challenges forced him to stop his studies. What started as a simple hustle soon became his main source of survival. With limited options available, he committed himself fully to learning and improving his craft, determined to make photography work for him. Guilherme initially began his photography journey in Rundu, where he gained valuable experience but also faced limitations that hindered his growth.  Like many entrepreneurs, Guilherme’s early days were not easy.

“I recall times when I would get only one client in one or two weeks. But through consistency, patience, and dedication, my client base gradually grew,” he said.  Today, he regularly works with six to eight clients per week, and there are periods when he is fully booked, with demand sometimes stretching delivery timelines. Despite this, he continues to prioritise quality and customer satisfaction.

Guilherme acknowledges that challenges still exist in his daily work. Client punctuality remains one of the biggest issues, as late arrivals disrupt schedules. He also notes that some clients compare themselves to others, which can affect confidence during photo sessions. Even so, his calm approach and respectful manner help create a comfortable environment for clients.

What Guilherme values most from visitors to his studio is respect and kindness.

“I encourage clients to book in advance and appreciate being given creative freedom to explore new ideas and set-ups. My ability to connect with people and make them feel at ease is one of the reasons Perez Filmz continues to stand out in Ongwediva’s creative space,” he ended.

Photography now fully sustains Guilherme, allowing him to pay his bills, meet his personal needs, and live a life he once only imagined. He believes that photography, when taken seriously and supported by creativity and investment, can be even more rewarding than some formal jobs.

In Ongwediva, Castro is not just a photographer, he is a big thing in the making, and his journey is only just beginning. -taimihaihambo2000@gmail.com
