KATIMA MULILO – The National Democratic Party (NDP) held a formal recognition ceremony on Sunday to honour 25 members for their contribution to the party’s performances in the national and local elections.

In the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, the NDP secured one seat in the National Assembly.

In the 2025 Regional Council and Local Authority elections, the party earned one seat each on the Bukalo Village Council and the Katima Mulilo Town Council.

The recognition ceremony was held at Kamunu village hall, where 25 members were honoured with certificates for what party president Martin Lukato described as their dedication and exemplary commitment to the party’s mission.  Fourteen of the recipients were present to receive their certificates.

“Our members have been active in the party for years, demonstrating leadership, integrity and a passion for advancing the values and goals of the NDP. Their tireless efforts in mobilising communities, campaigning and contributing to the party’s growth are appreciated,” Lukato said.

He added that the awards reflect the party’s appreciation for the members’ service and the role they played in strengthening its presence at national and local level.

Lukato further stated that the NDP will continue to advocate for economic emancipation, job creation, youth empowerment, capacity building, free education and the promotion of social values. One of the recipients, 20-year-old Philimon Simataa, expressed gratitude for the recognition.  He said as a young artist, he would continue to promote the party’s message through his music and expressed hope that the party would perform better in the 2029 elections. -Nampa
