Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and the Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU) have confirmed the finalisation of wage negotiations that were concluded on August 5, with the final salary agreement having been approved on August 8.

The NWR Board provided NWR management with the mandate to proactively negotiate with NAPWU, based on what the company was able to offer its employees. Both parties managed to agree on some critical matters during the negotiations.

NWR and NAPWU agreed to a 5 percent increase for employees within job grades A to D2 for the financial year 2015/2016 effective from November 1, 2015. It was also agreed that a skills audit and job evaluation would be conducted in order to inform future salary increments.

“I would like to thank the board for the mandate they gave us to negotiate on behalf of the company. In the same spirit, I must applaud NAPWU for facilitating this process in order to ensure that our employees’ concerns are addressed,” said NWR managing director Zelna Hengari.
