Employees at Namdeb opened up their hearts during the frigid winter months of June and July when they donated blankets,
clothes and non-perishable goods to the destitute in Oranjemund and Lüderitz to complement government’s poverty alleviation
strategies.

S e n i o r  c o m m u n i c a t i o n s practitioner at Namdeb Anne-Nora Lameck said the initiative by staff at the diamond corporation is aligned to President Hage Geingob’s appeal for inclusivity and for to all citizens to join hands to help the less fortunate.

Lameck said the initiative resulted in 136 blankets and 18 bags of clothing and food items, with an estimated value of N$20 000, being
given to the less fortunate at the two towns. Some of the items were recently handed over to Mayor of Oranjemund Henry Coetzee at the diamond-mining town. He expressed his sincere gratitude to those who contributed and gave assurances he would ensure that the right people benefit from the donation by Namdeb staff.

The general manager of Namdeb, Riaan Burger, thanked all employees for their contribution and opined that such initiatives should become an ongoing community effort and not only be a once-off gesture.

The handover of the food parcels and blankets to the needy at Lüderitz will take place at a later stage
