Namibia’s leading professional boxing stable, the much revered MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy, is cruising on cloud nine and has reason to claim bragging rights in the annals of local boxing.
The academy boasts an astonishing number of nine boxers from its stable rated in the top 15 in world boxing, certainly a remarkable achievement as can be attested by the latest World Boxing Organization (WBO) world ratings released on the 20th of this month.
As widely expected, Paulus “The Hitman” Moses made a giant leap in the WBO ratings as a result of his remarkable record – his latest triumph in the WBO Africa title earned him a comfortable spot on number 10 in the World’s Lightweight division.
Moses will now hope for a lucky break by challenging the reigning Lightweight world champion Terry Flanagan since he has now reached the top 10 bracket, which makes him eligible to be challenged or to challenge.
Despite losing his IBO world title belt, Paulus “The Rock” Ambunda’s credentials were deemed enough to see him make a welcome return to the WBO ratings that see him rated number 15 in the WBO and number 12 in the WBC ratings.
Currently, Julius “Blue Machine” Indongo is rated number 4 after he moved up slightly from number, edging him closer to a mandatory bite for the world title.
Imms “Prince” Naidjala who has recently successfully retained his WBO Intercontinental title also improved his ratings from number 10 to number 9 while rookie boxer the undefeated Sakaria “Desert Storm” Lukas has made a remarkable stride by leaping six places from number 15 to number 9.
Incumbent WBO International Jnr Flyweight champion Japhet Utoni has jumped a notch from number 8 to 7 with the pair of Jeremiah “No Respect” Nakathila and Walter “Executioner” Kautondokwa also in the mix at number 15 in their respective weight categories.
Meanwhile, Ambunda and Moses are also highly ranked as pound for pound fighters by fightnews. A pound for pound boxer in boxing language means a boxer is ranked by Ring Magazine as one of the most exciting boxers to watch.
“To have nine boxers ranked amongst the best top 15 in world boxing is a dream come true for us at the MTC Sunshine Academy, because you cannot make any progress in boxing if you are not rated in the world,” charges an excited Nestor Tobias.
