An engagement of great actors, directors and playwrights, all together, is guaranteed to lead to an explosion of talents.
This is what must be expected at one of the best play, Nothing but the truth, staging for three days at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) starting next Thursday to Saturday. The play, originally written by South Africa renowned actor, John Kati, is a gripping investigation into the complex dynamism between black people who remained in South Africa and risked their lives to lead the struggle against apartheid, and those who returned victoriously after living in exile. In New Brighton, South Africa, 63-year-old librarian Sipho Makhaya prepares for the return of the ashes of his brother, Themba, recently deceased while in exile in London after gaining a reputation as a hero of the anti-apartheid movement.

Namibians will relive the play on stage under the directorship of renowned Namibian Director, David Ndjavera. Having experience of more than ten years in the play industry, Ndjavera is known for directing his one man play, Chameleon. He is the winner of the Director of the year, at the Namibian Theatre and Film Awards in 2012. The casts of the play includes Ashwyn Mberi, who acted as Sipho Makhaya. Mberi is an actor, writer, poet and television presenter, known for his Opportunity Knocks and Legends of Change programme on the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

Gloria Shilongoh, (Sipho`s daughter, Thando Makhaya) is a local theatre practitioner. She pursued her acting in the play Meme Mia in 2013. She has acted in The Lesson and Complete Works of Shakespeare, all directed by Sandy Rudd. Shilongo is the Best Female Actor for her role in The Lesson, in the Namibian Theatre and Film Awards in 2014.

While Tjuna Kauapirura (Mandisa Mackay, daughter of Sipho`s brother Themba) is a celebrity, who came to acting limelight when she acted in the movie, Katutura.

According to the organisers of the play, the productions brought together the best of Namibia’s actors, directors, producers, designers and technicians to present some of the world’s challenging text to live on stage. Tickets for the play are available at all Computicket outlets, including the NTN Box Office, at N$80 (Adults), N$60 (Senior Citizens) and N$40 (Children under 12 years).
