Home Elections ELECTION UPDATE: 200 police officers deployed in Omaheke ahead of elections

Police in Omaheke have deployed 200 officers in an attempt to ensure maximum safety during tomorrow’s regional council and local authority elections.

About 43 092 voters were registered in the Omaheke Region for Friday’s elections.

In an interview with New Era yesterday, Police Regional Commander for Omaheke, Commissioner Josephat Abel said all necessary safety measures are in place to ensure smooth elections.

Officers will be taken through adequate briefing to be professional, objective and apolitical in the delivery of their duties, Abel said.

“I would also urge people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us immediately, and ask anyone with any information in relation to this to contact us,” the regional police chief said.
