Omauezonjanda
Increasingly youth are shunning reference to them as leaders of tomorrow and are instead choosing to be leaders of today and in this regard have become active in various aspects of socio-economic, cultural and or religious endeavour in society and among communities.
One instance of this resolve by the youth unraveled in the village of Omauezonjanda in the Epukiro Constituency on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the death of Otjimana/Hoveka Traditional Authority chief Nikanor Katookui Hoveka.
All the way from the town of Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region, about 500 kilometres away, a combined youth battalion of especially the Red and Green flags, made sure that they did not only miss the occasion. It transpired that they were the only drilling regiment and their excellent drilling passes ensured that they were the star attraction at the event, during which Otjimana traditionalists and fellow travelers pay homage to their ancestors.
Meantime Youth Corner also stumbled upon a contingent of youthful believers from the Epukiro Junior Secondary School, whiling away the Sunday morning with a Bible session with singing and scripture reading under the watchful and guiding guise of one of their teachers, Williams Hambira.
At the said school it transpired that learners do not have a clothes drying line and so the school fence has to double up as a washing line.
