The Temma Pharmacy and Free Namibia Caterers recently donated blankets, food and cash to the Usko Nghaamwa Special School.
Temma Pharmacy donated blankets, lotion, toothpaste, soap and basic foodstuffs like drinks and bread. A representative from Temma Pharmacy, Anna Penavali, encourages other stakeholders in the Ohangwena region to be enthusiastic about the position they hold in society and to take responsibility and contribute effectively to young learners in various schools.
“Success comes with lots of practice. It comes with responsibility, accountability and hard work, including teamwork. Responsibility is that feeling of ownership of one’s life hence our partnership with this school in Eenhana,” she urges.
Free Namibia Caterers from Tsumeb donated N$20,000 to the school for children with hearing impairment. The money will be used towards the school’s tour to the Coast. Handing over the cheque on behalf of Free Namibia Caterers, Marco Smith, encouraged the school board and staff members to put the money into good use.
“As corporate citizens in Namibia, it is both our responsibility to see that our learners, especially the disadvantaged, benefit from our responsibilities. It’s our responsibility to plough back into the education sector,” he said.
Principal of the school Loide Shipanga could not hide her joy. “We should be proud of these companies which have come on board to help our disadvantaged learners here. As you can see our learners have tears of joy on their faces and God will continue to bless all your endeavours,” she said in appreciation.
The learners are scheduled to tour the coast from September 2-4. The Usko Nghaamwa Special School is the only school that caters for the deaf in the Ohangwena region.
The donation ceremony was attended by the Deputy Director of Education, Isak Hamatwi, parents of the learners, councillors, church leaders and school board members.
