Brave Warriors and former Tigers football club utility defender, Dudes Mwedihanga’s imminent transfer to University of Pretoria outfit (AMATUKS) in the South African Professional Soccer League (PSL) is almost a done deal.

The reliable towering centre-back, who played a sterling role in Namibia’s historic triumph in the regional COSAFA Senior Challenge, parted ways with relegated PLS side Amazulu last month.

Mwedihanga was reported to have refused a wage-cut after the club was demoted to South Africa’s second tier league, the National First Division (NDF).

The beanpole defender, who has resurfaced at Amatuks, has been training with the Tswane side in the hope of landing a new contract, as he was determined to stay in the lucrative PSL.

He was a surprise inclusion in the Amatuks starting line up in the semifinal of the E-tv Charity Showdown at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Pretoria, yesterday.

Mwedihanga played 65-minutes in the 2-0 defeat against their Tswane rivals and according to observers, the hard-tackling Namibian did enough to earn a contract with the PSL Club.

Quizzed by New Era Sports about the latest developments regarding his imminent move, a clearly confident Mwedihanga came just short of confirming his permanent lodging in the Jakaranda city. “So far, so good, I’m very positive that an agreement would be reached in due course, finalising all the nitty-gritty”.

Mwedihanga’s countryman, Brave Warriors inspirational skipper, Stigga Ketjijere was a notable absentee as he was reportedly back in native Namibia for a family bereavement over the weekend.
