Isuzu has released a special edition model called the Serengeti, in the same fashion the rival Toyota keeps its customers on edge with Dakar and Legend special edition models.
Isuzu says the Serengeti limited edition model “resonates the spirit of the fierce warriors of this vast land to the ambitious over landers in search of individuality, adventure and freedom.”
“Based on the flagship KB 300 LX Double Cab, the Serengeti Special Edition continues Isuzu’s heritage of special models in Southern Africa. The Serengeti Special Edition has the looks and appeal to attract attention on the road and set its owners apart from the rest,” says General Motors South Africa Isuzu Brand Manager, Mlungisi Nonkonyana.
The Serengeti Edition offers a host of exterior enhancements. These include a bumper guard with silver accents, side steps with silver accents, B-pillar blackout, silver roofrails, a chrome sports bar, towbar, 18-inch alloy wheels and all-terrain tyres. Decals and badging are eye-catching and prominent, boldly displaying the Serengeti Edition’s uniqueness and exclusivity. Although a tonneau cover is not part of the package, it is available as an option.
The interior is equally exclusive, featuring a striking combination of brushed silver, chrome and black trim, with Serengeti Special Edition carpets and chrome door sill plates, distinguishing it from other Isuzu models. Of course leather seats with power adjust as a standard feature.
Three Serengeti Special Edition models are available, each powered by Isuzu’s proven 3.0-litre D-TEQ diesel engine with 130 kW of power and 380 Nm of peak torque on tap and the choice of a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission with a 4×2 drivetrain, or 4×4 with a manual gearbox only.
The Isuzu KB’s 4×4 system remains particularly impressive, featuring a Terrain Command rotary switch control which allows the driver to switch between rear-wheel drive (2H), four-wheel drive with rear differential locking (4H) and low-range (4L), with shift-on-the-fly capability up to 100 km/h.
All Isuzu KB models are sold with a fully-comprehensive 5-year/ 120 000 km warranty and roadside assistance programme, a 5-year/ unlimited mileage anti-corrosion warranty and a 5-year/ 90 000 km service plan. Service intervals are 15 000 km or twelve months for all derivatives.
The Isuzu KB Serengeti Special Edition is priced from N$468 400 for the 300 LX Manual Double Cab, while the 300 LX Auto LX Double Cab is priced at N$494 300. The 300 LX 4×4 Manual Double Cab sells for N$522 600.
